The Bweza group split from the Nshongi Gorilla Family, which was once the largest ever habituated gorilla group in Bwindi.
Bweza, one of the silverbacks from Nshongi, led a faction away due to internal dominance tensions.
After the split, the Uganda Wildlife Authority officially opened the Bweza group for trekking in December 2012.
The group is now composed of 1 Silver back, 2 Adult Females, 1 Black back, 1 Sub Sub Adult Male, 1 Juvenile Female & 1 Infant Male.
